Luminous Works is located in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood - nestled into a few blocks of industrial buildings - this 'superb environment' carries a unique feel from the moment step up to the door with it's rich colors and wall embellishments - to the warm studio feel of the main space.

on the first day of class, i was the first to arrive after the two instructors, Steve and Carla. as i walked through the door, i was greeted with a giddy hug from Carla who i'd previously spoke with on the phone but never met in person. i felt at home in an instant - observing the space with it's numerous Mac computer systems, black out curtains and large kitchen area complete with brewing coffee and specialty teas. Carla gave me the grand tour including the patio which overlooks the skyline of Seattle.

the course was specifically designed to help photographers improve their photographic workflow with the use of Adobe Lightroom. Steve Laskevitch, the instructor for the course, is a Adobe genius - he's written books and taught courses for years yet does not talk over anyone's heads. he has a keen sense of how to relate each topic to each student - at times stepping over to analyze methods and pin point a problem. all the while, keeping the attitude in the room playful and inspiring.

bet you've never seen this use of a house gutter before! what better way to keep all those cords organized!

for me to learn, i have to write things down - always been that way and after having reese, it just got worse. there are countless sticky notes, blackberry alarms, calendars and other digital reminders that make up my day. it's pretty bad that i'm dealing with memory loss at 25 years old - just imagine what it's going to be like when i'm 50! haha!

here are the stars of this show - Carla and Steve, my newest friends. i was so delighted with the experience i had at Luminous Works - i can't begin to explain just how valuable the knowledge i gained from the course has been! i came into it hoping to improve my knowledge base but came away with a heightened understanding of all things Adobe, incredibly more efficient means of editing & archiving images and new friendships to boot! there's nothing quite like an uplifting experience such as this to jump start those creative passions once again!

a HUGE thanks goes out to Carla & Steve for having a space where creative people can come together to learn in a supportive, inspiring environment! i plan to take as many courses as possible in the future and will turn to Luminous Works whenever i need that extra push into new programs.
Carla & Steve - i truly appreciate your time, efforts and spirit! way to be amazing!
