becca's sister-in-law, Rebecca, decided long ago that she was going to treat the couple to a homemade masterpiece. thanks to a good friend at New York's Magnolia Bakery located in the village on Bleecker Street - which you may recognize from a lil' show called Sex in the City - she gathered professional tips and through many baking trials came up with the perfect blend for becca and chris' big day. the multiple layers consisted of white cake with a lemon curd filling and butter cream frosting and were absolutely to die for! i usually don't partake in the cake feasting but i had to try this one a few times - magnificent!
as for the delightful cake topper - that was a special piece hand crafted by becca's father, Jay Stewart, who is a professional potter out of Cannon Beach. the two love birds were a surprise to the couple and are reminiscent of many of the playful creatures Jay has crafted the children throughout the years. talk about a personalized touch huh?

oh and don't even get me started on the buffet! perfect Northwest flare featuring baked salmon, fresh salads, perfect red potatoes, fire roasted and raw vegetables and a variety of seasonal fruits.

as a gift to their guests, chris hand crafted each of the personalized tumblers which commemorated the day with their names and wedding date. the couple got the idea from becca's parents who gave away similar cups at their wedding - in fact, at Jay and Laura's celebration the cups were so popular that people were hiding away extras in their purses! i have to admit, i some how ended up with a full set - tehehehe! due to the generosity of becca and chris though - not the size of my camera bag - haha.

as a special tribute to those who could not be there with them to celebrate - becca and chris chose to salute his brother, michael, and becca's dear family member, bob, with chocolate starfish which brought in their love of the ocean and the symbolic 'falling star' - the table card read, 'For our fallen stars and the sweet memories that we have.'

how a couple chooses to record the guest who attended always excites me - there have been so many great ideas throughout the years. becca had multi-faceted card that contained many of the images from their weekend long engagement session we had months prior to the event. it was a very unique solution and fit the feel of the event - casual, colorful, crafty and of course, creative.

both becca's father, Jay and Chris are professional potters which brought the arts to a forefront at their wedding. their pottery was displayed throughout the event which incorporated such a familiar feeling of home and what the livelihood of the Stewart family has been and what the future holds for becca & chris. it showcased a truly honest craft that has been passed from one generation to the next which is quite a rare thing these days. see more of Jay's work at www.houseofthepotter.com and Chris' at potterchrisjohnson.com.

becca thinks of everything - that's why she is the greatest assistant i have ever had. when it comes to taking care of the ones she loves - she's absolutely got it covered. what's better than rounding off a perfect day of watching two people you love unite as one through marriage? the answer - slipping into a pair of flip flops and enjoying a glass of wine! each of her bridesmaids received matching flip flops to go along with their color gowns, the perfect addition for all that dancing about to happen!

it's time for dinner but when we return you'll hear the accounts of becca and chris' closest friends and see how this party unfolds. laura's maid of honor speech is hands down the best i ever heard, you'll want to be part of this!
